There are two situations where this kind of cleaning matters most. The first is move-in cleaning: you are about to bring all your belongings into a new place and want it genuinely clean before anything goes in. The second is move-out cleaning, also called end of tenancy cleaning: you are leaving a rental and need the apartment in a condition that gets your deposit back without arguments. Both are very different from regular tidying, and both are something we handle every day.

We work from a detailed checklist because “clean the apartment” is too vague to mean anything useful. Here is what the standard package covers:

Kitchen: inside and outside of all cabinets and drawers (including hinges and handles), degreasing the extractor hood and hob, cleaning the oven, sanitising countertops and the sink.

Bathroom and toilet: removing limescale and rust, steam-cleaning tile grout, polishing chrome fittings, disinfecting all the surfaces that need it.

Living areas: removing dust from ceilings, cornices, and hard-to-reach spots, washing doors and door frames, cleaning radiators from the inside (where years of dust accumulate), wiping down light switches and sockets.

Floors: industrial wet-cleaning suited to the specific material, whether that’s hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl.

Window cleaning is available as an add-on if needed.

For tenants, end-of-tenancy cleaning is often the single most effective thing you can do to secure your deposit. One Practical Tip

Book the cleaning before you move furniture in. It sounds obvious, but most people do it the other way around — bring everything in first, then realise the cleaner can’t reach under the sofa. An empty apartment is cleaned faster and more thoroughly, which means it costs you less and the result is better.
